About the Volunteering
Founders 4 schools
Founders4Schools (F4S) is a UK education charity on a mission to inspire young people by connecting them with real‑world role models and professional insight. Using its digital platform and curated programmes, F4S bridges the gap between education and work, helping students, teachers and small businesses engage with volunteers who share career journeys, sector knowledge and practical advice.
Since its inception, F4S has supported over 710,000 students, teachers, career leads and SME employees through meaningful encounters with industry volunteers and expert mentors. The charity has recruited 30,000+ volunteers and facilitated 2 million+ student–employer interactions, creating wide‑ranging influence on young people’s career confidence and aspirations.
Maths4Girls, a key F4S initiative, works to inspire girls aged 11–14 to pursue mathematics beyond GCSE and into careers where maths is a gateway skill. By connecting students with female professionals who use maths in their work, the programme challenges stereotypes and boosts confidence about maths and its relevance in the world of work. Across programmes like Maths4Girls, 83 % of participants report increased optimism about their future, and 100 % of volunteers say they would recommend the experience to colleagues.
Together, F4S and Maths4Girls help young people see the relevance of their learning, broaden their understanding of possible career paths, and build the confidence and skills needed for the future workforce.
