2025 01 31: Liquidity Risk: A brief history and where we go from here (Virtual)

Hymans Robertson will be hosting this session. They will discuss a brief context of why liquidity risk matters, what good liquidity management looks like, and what developments are going on in this space.

The speakers will be:

James Hewer

James is a consultant and qualified actuary in our Insurance and Financial Services practice. He is experienced in ALM, investment strategy, illiquid assets, and hedging – predominantly from his time as an ALM & Hedging Manager at Aviva. He previously spent over 6 years at the insurer working in ALM, Equity Release and Annuity pricing teams. Recent Hymans projects include skilled person review of Investment Risk, illiquid asset pricing review and liquidity risk reviews. He is a member of the IFoA ERM working party.

Sarah Rabbolini

Sarah is a Senior Consultant in our Insurance & Financial Services practice, based in our London office. She is a Fellow of the IFoA who joined our team in April 2023 and brings a wealth of experience in the life insurance industry, across consulting and industry roles (both insurance and reinsurance). Sarah has wide-ranging experience across pricing & product development, reporting (Solvency II, IFRS – including IFRS17, BMA, and audit), M&A, business planning, Part VII transfers (supporting the Independent Expert), finance transformation programmes, and building and validating actuarial models and tools. More recently, Sarah has been heavily involved in liquidity risk framework reviews, considering guidance on a global scale across supervisory bodies including the IAIS, EIOPA, BMA and the PRA.
