About the Meeting
Climate Change: How insurers can overcome cognitive bias in mitigating climate change
Daniel Kahneman, the leading authority on cognitive bias, has expressed his pessimistic outlook on the human response to climate change. He has been a key international proponent of the need to understand cognitive biases. To this eminent Economics Nobel Laureate, human cognitive biases tend to line up against climate change. This is reflected in international delay and procrastination in taking action to mitigate climate change
This talk will provide an outline of the principal cognitive biases, and their appearance in climate change decision-making. Suggestions will be made to assist insurers in overcoming their cognitive bias.
