SIAS Committee 2024/25
Here's a list of our current Committee members. Our year runs from 1st October to the 30th September so if you're interested in joining us, let us know in July/August!
Mark Dainty
Mark is the Chair of SIAS. He trained as an Actuary with KPMG with a varied background in life insurance and pensions. He then founded HFG Insurance Recruitment where he leads their Life and Pensions sector across the UK and Asia. In addition to his main role, Mark is also the Chair for Apsco’s (The Association of Professional Staffing Companies) Finance sector where he represents around 200 financial services recruitment companies at industry level.
Priscilla Denteh
Priscilla joined SIAS in 2023. As Honorary Secretary, she is responsible for ensuring that the SIAS objectives are achieved through working alongside the subcommittees and is keen to ensure SIAS continues to add value to its members and adapts to the ever-changing actuarial world. Priscilla is a Senior Actuarial Modelling Consultant at Aon and an MSc student at Bayes Business School. Outside of work, Priscilla enjoys spending time with friends and family.
Param Dharamshi
Param is the Honorary Treasurer of SIAS, is responsible for SIAS's finances and investments and is a Manager with KPMG in London. He is a qualified general insurance actuary with twelve years of work experience. is excited to leverage his expertise and passion in starting and building initiatives that support professional growth and advancement of actuaries
Arjun Brara
Arjun joined SIAS in 2024, he is our Social Convenor and is responsible for organising social events throughout the year. Arjun is a GI & Life actuary, who moved to London 2 years ago. In his spare time, he can either be found down the pub, or nerding out over a game of chess / Warhammer.
Nina Ndu
Nina joined SIAS in 2025. As the Charity Convenor, she is responsible for organising School/University talks, the Charity Fun Run and the Exam Competition. She is an Associate qualified General Insurance Actuary, currently working for The Fidelis Partnership as a Capital Modeller. In her spare time, she serves in her Church community as a musician on the Worship Team.
Kishan Patel
Kishan is a former social convenor and treasurer who is providing adhoc to the committee. He is a Manager in the Life Insurance practise at KPMG UK. He is an avid board gamer, tennis player and can be found baking.
George Maher
George Maher is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, and a former Partner at Tillinghast-Towers Perrin, the international firm of actuaries and risk management consultants. He works as a consulting actuary specialising in General Insurance. He has advised clients in the UK, across Europe, the Middle East and the Americas on business risk and profitability. He is part of the charity committee. He is a keen author and teaches Latin at Kings College London.
Emma Brindley
Emma joined SIAS in 2024 as part of the social committee and is helping plan multiple events for 2025. She works as an actuarial analyst specialising in collateral and reinsurance management in the pensions risk transfer space. In her spare time, she has taken up running and enjoys spending time with friends and family.
Steve Stubbings
Steve joined SIAS in 2024. As the Education Convenor and Marketing Convenor, Steve is responsible for ensuring that IFoA student voices are heard and that members are kept up to date with the latest communications. Steve is not an actuary but has been working in the profession for over 20 years, so is hoping he is well placed to provide career advice for anyone that needs help or support. Ace Mfoafo-McCarthy
Ace joined SIAS in 2022 as part of the Marketing subcommittee and is keen on spreading the awareness of SIAS across London to encourage more engagement of actuaries. Ace is as an Associate qualified Actuary at WTW in the retirement sector. Outside of work, Ace is a keen sports enthusiastic watching and playing a wide range of sports such as football, rugby and basketball as well as socialising with friends and spending time with family.
Elze Pranckunaite
Elze joined the SIAS committee in 2024 and is part of the Social subcommittee and helps organise social events throughout the year. She works as an actuarial analyst specialising in General Insurance. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, dancing salsa and spending time with her family, friends and pets.
Juweena Appanah
Juweena is a student actuary, working at Crowe LLP as a Senior Risk Consultant with a focus on Sustainability and Climate Change. In her spare time, she enjoys running, boxing and cooking. She also likes going to the theatre (Phantom of the Opera is among her favourite musicals) and likes travelling to new places.
Ramesh Balaji
Ramesh Balaji joined SIAS in 2023, leading the Programme subcommittee and is an actuarial analyst working in the Capital Modelling team at his current company. In his free time, he likes to pay sports such as badminton and football as well as watch anime and stream tv shows.
Suat Karacan
Suat joined the SIAS committee in 2025 and is part of the Charity Subcommittee. He is an student actuary consultant within Aon STG. Outside of work, He enjoys watching and playing football, along with travelling to new places and spending time with family.
