What information do we collect?

The types of information collected might include names, e-mail address, postal address, telephone number, and credit card number.

How do we use this information?

We would use your personal information to provide you with the services or information you have requested or to contact you about a submission you may have made to the website. We will not share your information with third parties unless it is specifically for the work of SIAS.

Do we use ‘Cookies’?

‘Cookies’ are small pieces of information sent by a web server to a web browser, which enables the server to collect information from the browser. Essentially it takes the form of a small text file deposited on your computer’s hard drive. SIAS uses cookies minimally to ensure that you can interact with our web sites appropriately and successfully. The use of cookies does not give us access to the rest of your computer.

If you want to prevent our cookies being stored on your computer in future, you may do so by referring to your internet browser’s instructions. You can do this by clicking on the “Help” menu. Please note however that if you disable our cookies you may not be able to access certain services or facilities on our sites and your use of our sites may be restricted. Further information on deleting or controlling cookies is available at www.AboutCookies.org

The SIAS website contains links to external websites. These websites are owned and operated by third parties. They will have their own privacy policies, including their own cookies policies, which we encourage you to review. These policies will govern the use of any personal information that you submit or any personal information collected by cookies whilst visiting these websites. We do not accept any responsibility or liability for the privacy practices of such third party websites and your use of such websites is at your own risk.

How do we protect personal information?

We take appropriate measures to ensure that the information disclosed to us is kept secure, accurate and up to date and kept only for so long as is necessary for the purposes for which it is used.

Will we disclose the information we collect to outside parties?

As indicated above, we will not normally share information with third parties unless it is specifically for the work of SIAS, and will only disclose your information if required to do so by law.

Right of access

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you (for which we may charge a small fee) and to have any inaccuracies in your information corrected.

Posting offensive or inappropriate content

If you post offensive, inappropriate or objectionable content anywhere on this website, SIAS may use your personal information to stop such behaviour.

Where SIAS reasonably believes that you are or may be in breach of any of the laws of England or Wales (e.g. because content you have posted may be defamatory), SIAS may use your personal information to inform relevant third parties such as law enforcement agencies about the content and your behaviour.
