SIAS Committee 2022/23
Here's a list of our current Committee members. Our year runs from 1st October to the 30th September so if you're interested in joining us, let us know in July/August!
Mark Dainty
Mark is the Chair of SIAS. He trained as an Actuary with KPMG with a varied background in life insurance and pensions. He then founded HFG Insurance Recruitment where he leads their Life and Pensions sector across the UK and Asia. In addition to his main role, Mark is also the Chair for Apsco’s (The Association of Professional Staffing Companies) Finance sector where he represents around 200 financial services recruitment companies at industry level.
Raluca Stefan
Raluca joined SIAS in 2019. As Honorary Secretary, she responsible for ensuring that the SIAS objectives are achieved through working alongside the subcommittees. She is keen to ensure SIAS continues to add value to all its members and adapts to the ever-changing actuarial world. In her spare time, Raluca enjoys spending time with her son, being out and about and meeting new people. Raluca currently works as a capital actuarial consultant at Grant Thornton.
Devan Vadher
Devan is the Honorary Treasurer of SIAS and is responsible for SIAS's finances and investments. Devan is a student Actuary working at Lloyd's of London across Capital, Reserving and Financial Risk. Outside of work, Devan is a keen pianist and is currently learning the violin.
Gayatri Patel
Gayatri is our Social Convenor and is responsible for organising social (albeit virtual for now) events throughout the year. Gayatri is a student actuary working in General Insurance at BDO LLP. She loves travelling, going on walks and spending time with family.
Tyreece Jacobs
Tyreece is the Marketing Convenor responsible for ensuring that members are kept up to date with the latest communications. He also connects with the IFoA and represents SIAS members’ interests. Tyreece works as an analyst in the Actuarial & Risk team at Grant Thornton UK LLP. He is an events DJ and enjoys competitive sports including basketball and swimming.
Anurupa Bose Dhingra
Anurupa joined the SIAS committee in 2020 and is part of the social subcommittee helping organise various social events. I enjoy singing (more like humming!) and listening to music. I also enjoy spending time with family and travelling different places.
Kishan Patel
Kishan is a former social convenor and treasurer who is providing adhoc to the committee. He is a Manager in the Life Insurance practise at KPMG UK. He is an avid board gamer, tennis player and can be found baking.
Sharon Jacob
Sharon joined the SIAS committee in 2022 and supports Gayatri and Eena on the Social subcommittee. Sharon is currently a student actuary working in pensions consulting at Isio. In her spare time, she enjoys dancing, cycling, travelling and spending time with family and friends.
Eena Bajaj
Eena joined the SIAS committee in 2022 and supports Gayatri on the Social subcommittee. Eena currently works as a Longevity actuarial analyst at Munich Re. She enjoys cooking, reading and dancing. Having recently moved to the UK from New Zealand, when it’s not exam season she like to travel and explore new places.
Ace Mfoafo-McCarthy
Ace joined SIAS in 2022 as part of the Marketing subcommittee and is keen on spreading the awareness of SIAS across London to encourage more engagement of actuaries. Ace works as an Actuarial graduate at WTW in the retirement sector. Outside of work, Ace is a keen sports enthusiastic watching and playing a wide range of sports such as football, rugby and basketball as well as socialising with friends and spending time with family.
Chloe Dandy
Chloe joined the SIAS committee in 2022 and supports Anurupa on the Programmes subcommittee. Chloe is a student actuary at QBE and works in the Strategy, Planning and Performance team. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, trying new food and spending time with family and friends
Tao Huang
Tao joined SIAS in 2022 and currently is a Student Actuary working in Lloyds of London. As Charity convenor, Tao works to provide more opportunities for members to raise funds for their chosen charities and promote SIAS to the actuarial profession. This is done through exam best mark competitions, school talks, the summer fun run and so on. Outside of work, she enjoys the time with her two children, travelling, food, sports and other activities.
Juweena Appanah
Juweena is a student actuary, working at Crowe LLP as a Senior Risk Consultant with a focus on Sustainability and Climate Change. In her spare time, she enjoys running, boxing and cooking. She also likes going to the theatre (Phantom of the Opera is among her favourite musicals) and likes travelling to new places.
Param Dharamshi
Param Dharamshi is a Manager with KPMG in London. He is a qualified general insurance actuary with twelve years of work experience. He is part of the SIAS committee and is excited to leverage his expertise and passion in starting and building initiatives that support professional growth and advancement of actuaries
Ramesh Balaji
Ramesh Balaji is an actuarial analyst working in the Capital Modelling team at his current company. In his free time, he likes to pay sports such as badminton and football as well as watch anime and stream tv shows.
Priscilla Denteh
Priscilla joined SIAS in 2023 as part of the Marketing subcommittee. Priscilla is a student actuary and actuarial consultant within Aon Tyche. Outside of work, Priscilla enjoys swimming and spending time with friends and family.
Leonarda Miletic
Leonarda is a student actuary working for reinsurance broker Gallagher Re. She is part of the charity committee. Outside of work she likes to stay active, travel and spend time with friends and family.
George Maher
George Maher is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, and a former Partner at Tillinghast-Towers Perrin, the international firm of actuaries and risk management consultants. He works as a consulting actuary specialising in General Insurance. He has advised clients in the UK, across Europe, the Middle East and the Americas on business risk and profitability. He is part of the charity committee. He is a keen author and teaches Latin at Kings College London.
Katy An
Katy is currently working in insurance consulting at Barnett Waddingham and joined SIAS in 2023 as part of the Programme committee. Outside of work she is part of a cheerleading team and enjoys dancing.
